Thomas Carroll Applewhite, 73 years, died at 9:30 o'clock Wednesday night at the family home, 923 South Flores street, after a long illness. He was a pioneer resident of Bexar county, coming here with his father when a young man. The Applewhite crossing of the Medina river was named in honor of his father. He married Miss Josephine Desmukes of Oak Island, Bexar county, and is survived by his widow and nine children.
The death of Mr. Applewhite was not unexpected. He had been in failing health for a long time and recently his condition grew serious. Pending the arrival of relatives from distant points the funeral arrangements are held in abeyance, but it will probably be held Saturday. The children are Andrew, Carroll and Wallace and Mrs. Minnie Horst of San Antonio; S. T. Applewhite of Douglas, Ariz., Frank Applewhite of Jerome, Ariz.; Mrs. Fannie Martin of Alpine; Mrs. Josie Pierce of Brownsville and John A. Applewhite of Laredo.
