Benjamin Franklin Craft (Ben) was a farmer, dealt in timber, and worked a while for the Fenwick Mines. He was a fiddler of considerable talent, and played for dancers throughout the area.

He married Julia Ann Broughman on July 22, 1886, in Alleghany County, Virginia. To this union were born eleven children. His second marriage was to Mary Florence Crawford Hurst on July 29, 1914, in Craig County, Virginia. To this union were born five children.

Benjamin is buried beside his first wife, Julia Ann Broughman Craft in an unmarked grave in the McCartney Cemetery.
