Charles, who resided in Magnolia, Delaware, served as a Technician Fifth Grade with Troop A, 16th Cavalry, 10th Armored Division, Seventh Army, U.S. Army during World War II.

He was "Killed In Action" at Waldrack, Germany during the war.

He had served in the Army for two years and three months at the time of his death and was decorated with a Purple Heart.
