James D. Johnson, Jr., 40, died Sunday morning at 7 o'clock in a McKinney hospital after a long illness. It was his 18th wedding anniversary.
Funeral rites were held Monday afternoon at 4 o'clock from the Methodist Church at Malakoff, with burial in the Malakoff City Cemetery. Rev. Cannon conducted.
Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Loette Jones of Athens; his mother, Mrs. J.D. Johnson Sr., of Marfa; five sisters, Mrs. Sue Honnecutt, Dallas; Mrs. Opie Williams, Groesbeck; Mrs. Callie Cooley, Mrs. Jewell Anthony and Mrs. Lorene Flagg, all of Marfa; one brother, J.H. Johnson of Lamesa.
Pallbearers were C.F. James, Luther Clay, Raymond Bateman, J.L. Clay, Tom Baker and Jack Hall.
Mr. Johnson was born April 2, 1911 in Malakoff and lived most of his life there before moving to Athens. He was employed in West Texas before entering the hospital.
Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home was in charge.
