Elizabeth's first husband was John Foust. They had one surviving son, William Price Foust born in 1862.

Sarah Watson wrote: John Foust 'got lost from aunt Elizabeth after he went to war' she and the Watsons moved to Ark and never found each other afterwards. Price married Mollie Kirby of Chesapeake one Sunday. Aunt Elizabeth married Wade Swearengin the next Sunday. He had 8 children all at home; one soon died.' (They were Virginia 1858, Nancy, Ben Oliver, John, Henry 1870. Wade and Elizabeth married sometime after 1883.)
