B.C. Souther was one of eight children born to Henry and Hannah Lewis Souther. He lived his entire life in the Hunting Creek area of Wilkes County, NC. He was first married to Almedia Anderson who died at the age of 32 years old in 1891. She is buried in the Anderson Family Cemetery on Hwy. 115 near Hunting Creek Baptist Church in Wilkes County. B.C. and Almedia had three children: William Henry, Huley, and Ephraim.
B.C. later married Frankie Anderson and their marriage produced five children: Lemuel Monroe, Leliar, Hilary Clay, Roy, and Vallie. Frankie died in 1924 and is buried with B.C. at Lewis Church.
