SHAWNEE, Okla. — Former Tecumseh resident Jason C. Humphrey, 33, passed away Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008 in Nebraska.

He was born March 18, 1975 in Shawnee to Tony Craig and Deborah Kay (Rider) Humphrey. He lived in Wellston, Tecumseh, and Stillwater before moving to Gordon, Neb., in November 2007.

He is a 1993 graduate of Tecumseh High School. He furthered his education at Connors and OSU, graduating with a degree in Animal Science. He was a devoted OSU Cowboy his entire life. Jason began showing cutting horses under the guidance of his grandfather, Fred Humphrey, and continued learning from his Uncle Randy. He had great success in both NCHA and Okla. High School Rodeo on his horses, Ollies Sallie and Rondos Lynx. During his years in Stillwater, he worked for the Walking F Ranch. He was currently doing what he loved most - training cutting horses at Whitestone Krebbs in Gordon, Neb. He was a member of the NCHA, and was a National Approved Cutting Horse Judge.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Fred Humphrey; maternal grandparents, Nathan and Mabel Rider; aunts, Linda Griffith and Phyllis Coulson; an uncle, Bob O'Neal; and cousin, Jimmy O'Neal. He is survived by his parents, Tony and Debbie Humphrey of Tecumseh; sister, Allison Humphrey of Stillwater; brother, Carson Humphrey of Stillwater; grandmother, Cleta Joy Humphrey of Tecumseh; great aunt, Trelma O'Neal of Tecumseh; uncles and aunts, Randy and Cindy Humphrey of Tecumseh; Nathan and Peggy Rider of Talala; and Fred Coulson of Wellston; cousins, Cody and Ashley Humphrey, Kirby Humphrey and multiple "Rider" cousins; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Service will be 2 pm Friday at Highland Church of Christ in Tecumseh with Jimmy Holbrook, Marty Shirey, Shawn Jeffcoat, and Marty Coulson officiating. Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery. To share memories, or to sign the guest book on-line go to www.cooperfuneral.com.
