Jeanne E. Bowman, 80, of 1001 E. Walton Ave., Altoona, died early Monday morning at the Village at Morrisons Cove.

She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late John H. and Eliza (Aungst) Bowman.

Surviving are a nephew and two nieces: John Bowman and family of Carlisle, Susan Zimmerer and family of Waynesboro and Karen Miller and family of Lock Haven. She was preceded in death by a brother, John H. Bowman.

Mrs. Bowman was a member of Garden Heights United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Friend and Fellowship Sunday school class. She also was a Sunday school teacher and a former member of the church choir.

She retired as a third grade teacher from the Altoona Area School District, after 35 years of service. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees. She was a 1945 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1949 graduate of Lock Haven University.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Leslie E. Axe Funeral Home and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Garden Heights United Methodist Church, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Jeannette Wertz. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Garden Heights United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
