Obituary:

Funeral services were held Monday, May 7, 1984 at 2:00 p.m. for Otto Kitzman of Doland in the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wm. Ellis officiating. Burial was made in the Doland Cemetery.

Military rites were conducted by Doland American Legion Post No. 69 of which Mr. Kitzman was a charter member.

Pallbearers were Silas Iverson, Ralph Bell, Cliff Bell, Walter Hofer, Harold Wurz, and Evan Barz. All his friends and neighbors were honorary pallbearers.
Deb Schroeder of Doland served as the organist and the soloists were Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Hofer of rural Doland.

The Coleman - Thelen Funeral Home of Redfield was in charge of the arragements.
Otto H. Kitzman was born on February 5, 1899 in Harrison Township, rural Doland, the son of Henry F. and Dina (Steinback) Kitzman. He passed away May 3, 1984 at his home in Doland.

He attended rural school in Harrison township and graduated from Doland High School in 1918. He attended the University of Minnesota while in the Armed Forces until the conclusion of World War I. He was a charter member of the American Legion Post 69 and maintained his membership for over 60 years until the time of his death. When he was an active member of the Legion he served as Master of Ceremonies at the Memorial Day Service for many years. He was also a member of World War I Barracks in Redfield. For twenty years he was a member of the Doland School Board. After returning from the service he joined his brother Fred at the Doland Auto Company. He continued to work there until the time of his retirement and after that helped others on a part time basis.

He married Hazel Mielke of the Brentford area August 15, 1933 at Aberdeen, S.D. To this union two children were born. A daughter Kay and a son Kieth. Otto and Hazel observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary last August.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel, his daughter Kay Larson of Minneapolis and a son, Keith of Schenectady, N.Y., six grandchildren, Todd, Troy and Tammy Larson and Kevin, Steven and Kent Kitzman; also several neices and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
