Malinda E. Cunningham was born in Illinois, July 13, 1843. She died June 10, 1920 at the home of her daughter, Mrs L. T. Black, at West Mineral, Kansas.

On Dec 26, 1859, she was married to Andrew J. Cunningham, at Rushville, Illinois.

They moved to the farm southwest of Cherokee, in 1871, where she lived until 1905 when she sold the farm and made her home with her youngest daughter, Mrs. T. W. Whitaker, of Redds, MO.

Mrs. Cunningham was one of those pioneer souls to whom Kansas owes so much. She was a lover of home, a mother of high principles, and a Christian who leaves a memory in the hearts of her own, of a well spent life. She united with the Christian Church in Cherokee in 1887.

She leaves four sons, James M., Neodesha; Joseph T., Girard; Samuel M., Pittsburg; Elmer, of Scammon; and three daughters, Mrs. L. T. Black, West Mineral; Mrs Millie Swan, Cherokee; and Mrs. T. W. Whitaker, Reeds, MO. Her companion and three of her children had preceded her to that life beyond.

The funeral services were held from the Christian Church, at Cherokee, Kansas, Sunday, June 13, conducted by W. E. Babb, of Girard.
