Ethelyn was the second of eight children born to Marshall Monroe and Nancy Marie (Moose) Plummer. She married Charles B. Fite and they had one son: Charles Richard.

Ethelyn Plummer Fite 92, of Huntersville, died Tuesday, December 11, 2001 at Huntersville Oakes. Born February 6, 1909 in Gaston County, she was daughter of the late Marshall Monroe and Nannie Moose Plummer. For 84 years, Mrs. Fite was a member of Huntersville First Baptist Church where she was honored in 1997 for 58 years of Bible Study Teaching and served on many boards and committees. After 27 years of service, she retired from the U.S. Post Office in Huntersville.
Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Linda D. Fite of Huntersville; sister, Sarah Fowler of Landrum, SC; grandson, Chuck Fite and wife, Justine; and great-grandchildren, Matthew and Hannah Fite. Her husband, Charles B. Fite; son, Charles R. Fite, Sr.; brothers, Bill, Lewis, Henry and Jack Plummer; and sister, Margaret Wheeler, preceded her in death.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 14, 2001 at Huntersville First Baptist Church with Dr. Doug Danner and Rev. S.M. Dorton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 7-8:30 PM Thursday at Raymer Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Larry and John Plummer, Tony Gresham, Spencer Gant, Paul McCall and Wade Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday School Class, Adult #1.
