Albert McNeer dies; services will be today

NORTH CARROLLTON - Services for Albert McNeer, 75, of North Carrollton, will be at 2 p.m. today at North Carrollton Baptist Church. Mr. McNeer, who managed Simpson, Stepp and Lott Lumber Co. in Greenwood more than 30 years, died of emphysema Thursday, Feb. 22, 1996, at Mississippi Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson.

Born in Carroll County, Mr. McNeer was a World War II veteran who had served with the Fifth Army in Italy. For over 40 years, he was a deacon at North Clarrollton Baptist Church. Through the years, he had served as Sunday school director, chairman of the deacons and on many committees of the church as well as the Carroll-Montgomery County Baptist Association. In 1990, Mr. McNeer retired as manager of Simpson, Stepp and Lott

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bessie and Lee McNeer and a brother, Billy McNeer.

Survivors include his wife, Estee Vance McNeer; two daughters, Jauice McNeer Smith of Spring, Texas, and Elaine McNeer Kreskey of Reedsport, Ore.; a brother, Don McNeer of North Carrollton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Kevin Smith and Dr. Al Smith will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery with Lee Funeral Home of Winona in charge.

Pallbearers will be deacons of North Carrollton Baptist Church and Mr. McNeers nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Keith Rushing, Dr. Millard Costilow, Dr. Barry Whites and Steve Anderson.

Rather than flowers, memorials may be sent to the North Carrollton Baptist Church or the American Lung Association.
