Obituary:
DOLAND -- Howard E. Coats, 75, Doland, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1987, at Huron Regional Medical Center.
His funeral will begin at 2 p.m. today at Doland United Methodist Church with the Reb. Kip Roozen and the Rev. Harold Loewen officiating. There will be visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be Doland Cemetry under the direction of Kuhler Funeral Home, Huron.
Howard E. Coats was born Feb. 21, 1912, at Doland to Ernest and Verona (Paris) Coats. On March 17, 1942, he married Wilma Edwards at Redfield. Following their marriage they made their home in Doland.
He farmed for several years prior to working at the Redfield State School, where he worked for 23 Years.
He was a member of the Doland Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Linda Morgan, Elizabethtown, Ky.; one sister, Norma Thomas, Rapid City; Six brothers, Leslie, Redfield; Louis, Statesville, N.C., Maurice, Virginia Beach, Va.; Merle, Rapid City; Ronald, Verndale, Minn.; and Francis, Doland; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Active casketbearers include Jim Coats, Nat Weems, Dick Brede, Tom Thomas, Jim Lovelace and John Conway. Honorary casketbearers include Cliff Bell, Bill James, Phil and Jim Weems, Ron Troske, Evan Barz, Virgin Seaman, Vern Yongern, Alfred Stolz and Harold Tschetter.
