He was born in Paden, Oklahoma on December 27, 1917. He moved to Hughson in 1935 and later married Marjorie Trost from Hughson, who preceded him in death on June 18, 1954.

He was a Veteran of World War II, awarded the Croix de Guerre from France, for bravery, and was also awarded the Purple Heart. He worked at the Foremost Dairy Creamery in Hughson for 33 years. He loved to go fishing and camping with his family.
