JAMES H. HARSIN DIES AT HOME AT BUTTES

James M. Harsin died Sunday, July 13 at the home of his son, Fred A. Harsin, at the Buttes. He had been in poor health for some time and death was due largely to the natural weaknesses of advancing age. The funeral was held Monday morning at Inmaha bridge and burial in the cemetery there. Rev. J. B. Astwood of the Enterprise federated church conducted the services.

Mr. Harsin was born in Burlson county, Indiana, Dec. 3, 1838, and lived much of his life in Iowa. he left that state in 1885 for the far west coming to Union county in 1887. Six years later he moved to Wallowa county and had lived here ever since.

In 1867 he was married to Elizabeth M. Davis. Five children were born, all of whom survive. Mrs. Harsin died in 1908, in Turlock, Calif.

Mr. Harsin was a highly respected citizen, honest and industrious. The surviving relatives unite in expressing their appreciation of the kindness of neighbors and friends during the illness and after the death of the elder Mr. Harsin.
