OBITUARY;
Corsicana — Pattie Rue McCarter passed away Aug. 4, 2011, peacefully with family and friends surrounding her at Heritage Oaks West, Corsicana. She was born Sept. 15, 1918 in Purdon to Bertha Mae Williams and Carey Alford Ford Sr. Pattie married Jim O. McCarter on Aug. 11, 1934.
Pattie was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 63 years, Jim O. McCarter, and daughter-in-law Sandra L. Sheets McCarter.
She is survived by her son, Jim A. McCarter and wife Martha of Corsicana; sister, Valero Garner of Garland; grandchildren, Michael McCarter of Corsicana, Kimberly Ann McDonald and husband Jimmy of Hutto, Texas, Kristin Kelly Bell and husband Brett of Purdon; step-grandchildren Susan and Ed Williamson of Corsicana, Polly and John Wynn of Chapel Hill; great-grandchildren, Tyler McDonald of Lubbock, Tanner and Tucker McDonald of Hutto, Caitlin McCarter of Chandler, Sadie Leigh McCarter of Aledo, Karley Davis and Kelton and Keegan Bell of Purdon; seven step-great-grandchildren; and four step-great-great-granchildren.
She worked in the nursing field while living in Houston during World War II and after returning to Corsicana, she worked for Texas Miller Hat Factory for 32 years and loved working on the farm and ranch in Navarro Mills. She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and she was also a member of the Wesley Methodist Church since 1947, and attended Navarro Mills Baptist Church when unable to attend her home church. She will be missed by her many friends of Heritage Oaks Family of the last 18 months.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 8, 2011 at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Benefield and Rev. Sandra Pierce officiating. Burial will follow at Younger Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael McCarter, Jimmy McDonald, Tyler McDonald, Tanner McDonald, Brett Bell and Joe Kand.
