W. T. Fambrough, father of three Abilenians and resident of West Texas for more than half a century, died at 6:20 p.m. yesterday at his home near Wayland, Stephens county. He was 83 years of age. Abilene children of Mr. Fambrough, Mrs. A. B. Pennington and Mrs. Beulah Kimbrough, who had been at sharing vigil with other members of the family at his bedside during an illness of 10 days. He had been in failing health for six months. Mrs. Fambrough and eight other children survive. They are Sam Fambrough, San Diego, Calif.; Alex, Tom and Connor Fambrough of Wayland; Harvey Fambrough and Mrs. Jewell Carey, Breckenridge; Mrs. Monte Parker, Fort Worth, and Miss Mattie Fambrough, Wayland. Mr. Fambrough was a prominent stock farmer of Stephens county, where he had lived for 56 years. Until his recent illness he was active in the direction of his business. Before settling in Stephens county he resided in Rusk county, where he moved as a boy from Georgia, his native state. He had been a member of the Baptist church since young manhood and a member of the Masonic lodge for more than 50 years. Pastor of the Baptist church at Wayland will have charge of the funeral. With exception of his son in California, all of his children will attend the funeral. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Pennington and small daughter, Dorothy Rae; Mrs. Hal Dixon and daughters, Johnnie and Georgia; Miss Billie Jack Kimbrough and J. C. Pennington, grandchildren and great-grandchildren who live in Abilene will go to Wayland today to attend the funeral.
