She married James Rooney on September 22, 1945 and had Mickey, Bill, and my mother, Pat. My grandmother died of a brain aneurysm when my mother was 18.
My mother says her mother was a force to be reckoned with. She smoked and drank beer. She drove a school bus for a private school, so it was more of a van. She was terrified of mice.
There is a story that my grandmother had a dream in which she saw her gravestone, saying that she had been 54 years old. She actually died when she was 45, so maybe she was dyslexic in her dreams. :)
Coincidentally, it is now considered bad luck in our family to use the name Catherine, because everyone with that name in our family seems to die young. I was supposed to be a Catherine, but my great aunt Mary wouldn't allow it. :)
