She was born in Vernal, Utah to Pearl Abplanalp and Roy Simper. Shirley served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Gulf States of Arkansas, Louisiana and Tennessee.
She also especially loved her calling in the Primary and as ward Librarian. Shirley retired for First Security Bank with 31 years of service. She loved to travel, camp, shop and to do needlework.
She is survived by her brother, Ferron (Annie) Simper and sisters, Deon (Vard) Openshaw and Connie, twelve special nieces and nephews and many wonderful cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Glines Ward Chapel 1270 West 1500 South. Friends and family may call at Blackburn Vernal Mortuary Thursday evening from 6-8 and at the chapel one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in the Maeser Fairview Cemetery, under the direction of Blackburn Vernal Mortuary. [email protected]
