Funeral services for John P. Brannon, who died Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock at his home at Malakoff after an illness of several months, were held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Assembly of God Church.
The services were conducted by Bro. J.E. Kennedy and the Rev. Alton Jones, the latter pastor of the Malakoff Methodist Church. Interment was in the Malakoff City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clyde Humphrey, Carney Kirby, Marles Drake, Vollie Robertson, S.E. Hardy and John Bankston.
The Carroll & Lehr Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Brannon was born on March 29, 1874, at Rockdale, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.L. Brannon. He was married in 1893 in Milam County to Miss Emily Driver, and resided in that county until 1926 when he moved to Malakoff and accepted employment with the Malakoff Fuel Company. He remained in the employment of the company until he retired in 1937.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Robert Brannon and Leroy Brannon, both of Malakoff, and A.P. Brannon of Rockdale; two daughters, Mrs. George Cross and Mrs. C.M. Wilborn, both of Malakoff; two brothers, Frank Brannon of Rockdale and C.H. Brannon of Houston; and three sisters, Mrs. P.E. Driver of Mart, Mrs. Maude Hariston of Palestine and Mrs. Laura Gilstrap of California.
