Born in Alabama, died at the age of 71, at Angus, Navarro Co., Texas. Had 6 wives and 16-22 children. First married at age 17. Death Cert indicates birth yr. 1850. If he was born in 1850, he was only 12 (but his marker states born in 1848)or 14 when he enlisted in the Civil War for 3 years or "War" as a Confederate Soldier on March 25, 1862, Private, Co H 29th Mississippi Regt., Walthall's Brigade, appears on report of casualties, during the operations before Murfreesboro, Tenn, Dec 28, 1862, to Jan 4, 1863. Injured near Shelbyville, Dec 31, 1862, "Wounded slightly in face, Cedar Grove,sent to hospital by Reg. Surgeon. Hospitalized Sept 18th, 1863 by order of Brig. Surgeon. No other records. Series 1, Vol.20, part 1, page 762. Dod: 5-16-1838 Lawrence Co NC at age 73. He married Elizabeth Trent (dob: 1784)(dod: 10-12-1865) 10-04-1800 at Montgomery Co, NC. He was about 35 yrs, she was 16 yrs. They are both buried in the Old NICHOLS Cemetery, Pinhook Community, Lawrence County, ALabama. His Great Grandfather was Edmond Nichols who received a land grand from the King of England in 1758, for Montgomery Co., North Carolina. He was born before 1727 and died before 1800 Census in North Carolina. His Great Grandmother was Mary.
