Graveside services for Ernestine Bain will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Plainview Memorial Park. Ernestine died Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, while under the care of Area Community Hospice.

Ernestine Bain was born Oct. 20, 1927, in Lockney, Texas, to Irene and Ernest Fowler. She graduated from Floydada High School in 1945 and attended West Texas State College in Canyon, Texas, from 1945-47. Ernestine married Luther D. Bain of Plainview on Nov. 9, 1947, in Littlefield, Texas. Together they owned and operated Bain's Furniture Store for many years in Plainview. Ernestine was active in many social and church activities. These included Plainview Junior Service League, Gamma Delphin Study Club, College Hill PTA where she was a life member, president of Grace Presbyterian W.O.C., and a current member of the Naomi-Ruth Circle at First Presbyterian Church. She belonged to several bridge clubs throughout her life and was an exceptional player.

Ernestine was preceded in death by her husband, Luther, in 2003, and her son, Lee Bain, in 2007.

She is survived by her daughter, Beverly Bain of Lee, N.H., and two grandchildren, Christopher Lee Bain and Margaret Ann Bain, both of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Laverne and Sid Muse of Grove, Okla.; a niece, Sidney Morgan of Miami, Okla.; a nephew, J Muse, of Parker, Colo.; and her beloved cat, Stormy.

Arrangements are by Bartley Funeral Home. Officiating at the service will be Henry Martin, chaplain for Area Community Hospice. Honorary pallbearers will be Gayle Thompson, Jerry Harder, O.T. Ryan and J.B. Roberts.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Ernestine's loving caregiver, Pat Jackson, and her staff. The family requests memorials be made to Scholarships of Grace, First Presbyterian Church, 2101 Utica, Plainview, TX 79072, or to a charity of your choice.
