DAVID D. COLEMAN EXPIRES IN OHIO

David D Coleman, long prominent in the public life of Blair county and in the communities where he resided, a former member of the county board of auditors, justice of the peace of Juanita when it was a borough and member of the school board of Logan township, died at 10:30 o'clock yesterday morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. & Mrs. S. D. Steckley in Canton, O., where head resided the past ten or twelve years.
Mr. Coleman was born on the Coleman farm just north of the city on May 22, 1855, a son of John S. and Isabella (Nelson) Coleman. He was a great-grandson of Thomas Coleman, famed Blair county pioneer, Revolutionary soldier and Indian fighter, whose exploits constitute on of the most interesting chapters of the early history of the county.
Mr. Coleman was engaged in farming for many years, his farm occupying a part of the site of what is now Grandview Cemetery. For many years he conducted a produce store on Eleventh street in this city.
A Republican in his political affiliations, Mr. Coleman for many years took an active part in the political activities and public life of the county, of Logan township and of Juanita, locating in Juanita after he quit farming.
He served two terms as a member of the board of county auditors in the '90s and on one occasion he was a candidate for the nomination for prothonotary. He served as a member of the Logan school board for a number of terms and was secretary of the board during a considerable portion of the period of his service on the board. Following his removal to Juniata he was elected justice of the peace of the borough and also served on the school board.
Mr. Coleman was a member of the Lutheran church. His wife, whose maiden name was Miss Ella Cox, died about six years ago. Three children survive, Mrs. Daisy Bates of Cheyenne, Wyo., Clarence C. Coleman of Providence, R.I. and Mrs. Steckley of Canton, with whom he had resided in recent years. He also is survived by one sister, Mrs. Anna Manley of Bellwood.
The body will be brought to Altoona and may be viewed after 4 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the funeral home of Mauk & Yates in Juniata.
