Albert Eugene Pitzer, 87 years of age, and a resident of North Ridgeville, Ohio, passed away Friday (Sept. 19, 2008) at Center Ridge Nursing Home in North Ridgeville, Ohio. He was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Fairmont, where he was raised. Albert moved to Elyria, Ohio, in 1954 where he made his home for 50 years before moving to North Ridgeville in 2004. Albert served in the United States Army during World War II in the Rhineland Campaign and the battles in England, France and Germany. He was known by all to be a loving and devoted father to his family and a loyal friend. He was employed as a shipping clerk at Timms Springs in Elyria for 28 years. Albert was an avid golfer, and golfed in the Timms Spring League and enjoyed walking at the mall. Survivors include his daughter, Karen Sue and her husband Robert Gajdos; his son, Larry Pitzer; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Jane Pitzer (nee: Mason) on Jan. 30, 1995; his son, Wayne E. Pitzer in 1978; his brother, Robert Wayne Pitzer; and by his parents, Cody E. and Beryle Pitzer (nee: Duncan). A time of reception will be held by the family from 10 a.m. to the time of service at 11 a.m. from the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, Ohio, Thursday. The Rev. Norfleet Jones, associate pastor of the Christian Heritage Assembly of God in Avon, will officiate. Military Honors will be provided by the Amherst Veterans Military Honor Guard.
