Lifelong Alaskan Derek Rudolph Snyder, 24, died of hypothermia and drowning June 24, 1998, in Turnagain Arm. A visitation was held followed by a celebration of life at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel.

Mr. Snyder was born March 8, 1974, in Anchorage. He was a high school graduate and had finished one year of college. He attended churches of many denominations, but foremost was his love of God. Mr. Snyder enjoyed skiing, fishing, cooking, adventure and friends. According to his family, ''Derek was a remarkable individual who loved children, animals and people in general. Even with a life that was not easy for him, he was successful in a way that most people would hope to be. Although he will be missed, it is more important to remember the lives he touched and not forget each other in his passing.''

Mr. Snyder is survived by his father, Carl R. Snyder; brother, Christopher A. Snyder; grandmother, Virginia A. Snyder; fiancee, Jodee Raburn; unborn child, Elizabeth Derek Raburn Snyder; and great-uncle and great-aunt, William and Helen Parlett. The family requests that memorial contributions be sent to P.O. Box 111268, Anchorage 99511-1268. Arrangements were by Kehl's Forest Lawn Mortuary and Crematory.
