James M. Adkins, 75, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 at Bloomington Hospital.

Born June 9, 1933 in Greene County, he was the son of Orville J. and Elva M. (McCutcheon) Adkins.

He retired from Indiana Gas Company in 1990 after 27 years of service. He was a member of the Smithville Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife, Annabelle (Woods) Adkins, of Bloomington; three daughters and sons-in-law, of Solsberry and Bloomington; six grandchildren, one brother and sister-in-law, of Bloomington and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie J. Adkins, his parents, one brother, Orville Adkins, Jr. two sisters, Evelyn Adkins and Mildred Livingston and one brother in infancy, Stanley Adkins.

The service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Bloomington with Pastors David Marks and Don Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in Solsberry Cemetery.
