Jacob Landes was born abt 1713. Before 1727, he emigrated to America and settled on 150 acres in Salford Township. His first wife is reported to be named Magdalena and his 2nd wife, who survived him, was named Judith.
According to Jacob's will, he was the father of 8 children. His 3 sons Jacob jr, John and Charles all served in the Revolutionary War. His daughter Anna married John Geissinger, who was one of the executors of Jacob's estate.
Jacob's initial grave was marked by a red sandstone with his initials and date of death. In 1969 Henry Alderfer donated a new stone for Jacob & his unmarried son John of the Landes Upper Salford Line. On the reverse side of the stone is a memorial to another Jacob Landes & his son Jacob jr of the Franconia Landes Line.
