RONALD LAWRENCE CARMAN
(April 14, 1939 - September 22, 2008)
Ronald Lawrence Carman, age 69, of Union, died Monday, September 22, 2008 at his home at 1612 7th St. Apt-202, La Grande. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at Daniels~Knopp Funeral, Cremation & Life Celebration Center, 1502 7th Street in La Grande. A potluck gathering for family and friends will follow at the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show Clubhouse in Union. Mr. Carman was born on April 14, 1939, the son of Elvin and Virginia (Davenport) Carman in La Grande. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1956 and served until 1962. He returned to Union County for a time but he was a rambling man and moved to various places over the years including, Idaho, California, Texas, Alaska and spent many years in Whitefish, Montana until returning to Union a year ago. He worked as a mechanic all of his life and he also loved to build things. He could fix anything. He was a good man, a good father, loved to make people laugh, loved hot rods and will be missed. His favorite past time was spending time with family. Survivors include his former wife, Rosa Carman of Strathmore, California; children, Kevin Carman of Cove, Kelly Carman of Gearhart, Oregon, Sylvia Guerrero of Strathmore, Jason Carman of Strathmore, Steven Carman of Portland and Kory Carman of Portland; siblings, Beverly Kleng of La Grande, Shirley Kleng of La Grande, Connie Heller of Gooding, Idaho, Joyce Smith of Provo, Utah, Gary Carman of Nampa, Idaho, Donald Carman of Hermiston and Kathy Sue Gilcrest of Bakersfield, California; thirteen grandchildren; very close friends, Jackie and Bill Davis and Bud "Buddy" Wilson, all of La Grande; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Keith Lyle, Elvin Emery and Paul Carman and sister, Sharon Shenfield. Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Mr. Carman to the GRH Hospice in La Grande.
