Mr. Roy G. French, 83, of Port Huron, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 25, 2008 at home surrounded by his family. He was born April 8, 1925 in Detroit to the late George and Genevieve French.

He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Yvonne Engel on October 26, 1946 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on October 5, 2005.

He was a member of the American Institute of Architects, Past President of the Port Huron Golf Club, helped to form the Veteran's Club at the Council on Aging and was honored by the Port Huron Area School District with his inclusion on their Wall of Fame.

Roy's true love was his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose life centered on his children and grandchildren's various activities. He also enjoyed entertaining family and friends at his home on the lake.

Roy was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved watching the freighter traffic, laughing at a good joke, and trouncing his opponents at euchre.

In his later years, Roy authored two books and had just completed his third.
