Nolan W. Johnston, 91, of Nashville, formerly of Wynnburg, died Monday, August 12, 2002 at Alive Hospice Center in Nashville.

She was a retired postmaster of Wynnburg Post Office for 46 years, a member of Burrus Chapel Church of Christ and a member of the National League of Postmasters, where she served as state president in 1958 and also served on committees on the state and national level.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Ridgely chapel of J.W. Curry & Son Funeral Home with Brother Charles Chumley and Brother Don Reel officiating. Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors include a daughter, Faye Stroop and husband, Fred D., of Nashville; three sisters, Pauline Curd of Mount Juliet and Imagene and Margadene Ward, both of Tiptonville; three grandchildren; Steven Johnston and wife Sandy of Louisville, Colo., Gregory Johnston and wife Lisa of Mount Juliet and Anne M. Jaskula and husband Richard of Mesquite, Texas; and four great-grandchildren, William Johnston, Andrea Johnston, Nathan Johnston and Daniel Johnston.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleland Lowder "C.L." Johnston; a son, Cleland L. Johnston Jr.; her parents, William Lester "W.L." and Nettie Ann Patterson Ward; a sister, Mary Guynelle Ward; a brother, Aubrey L. Ward; and a granddaughter, Lauren E. White.

Pallbearers will be J.C. Williams, Steve Johnston, Greg Johnston, Richard Jaskula, Gene Lee and M.D. Kirkpatrick. Honorary pallbearers will be J.B. Weaver, Melvin Barnes, Tyler Terrett and Toy Dooley.

The family requests that any memorials be made to Alive Hospice, 1710 Patterson St., Nashville, TN 37203.
