Allen C. Lamb did not appear in either the 1850 or 1860 U.S. Censuses. He enlisted in Company B, 7th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, June 20, 1861 for a 3-year term of service. He was killed at the Battle of Winchester, also known as the 1st Battle of Kernstown in Frederick County, Virginia. He was originally buried in the Methodist Grave Yard, location undetermined.

His father, Nathan Lamb, applied for a pension based on Allen's military service, February 16 , 1888 which was approved and issued as Certificate #335577 in the state of Kansas.

Allen's name is on Panel #2 in the Cuyahoga County Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument, Public Square, Cleveland, Ohio and on the monument of the 7th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry located in Woodland Cemetery, 6901 Woodland Ave., Cleveland, Ohio also in Cleveland.

There was a Nathan Allen shown in the 1860 Tax Returns for Parma, Ohio in Cuyahoga County, but he did not appear in any U,.S. Censuses in either Ohio of Kansas.
