Wenzel Rewolinski Rites Held at Ashton
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 27, at the St. Francis Catholic church in Ashton for Wenzel Rewolinski, 80, who died Jan. 23 at the St. Francis hospital in Grand Island. He had been a patient there since July. Services were conducted by Fr. Aloysius Jarzemski and burial was made in the Ashton cemetery.
Wenzel Rewolinski, son of Michael and Mary Rewolinski, was born Aug. 29, 1969 in Berea. He came to Nebraska at the age of 17 and made his home on a farm near Paplin. When 22 years old he married Rozella Spotanski and moved north of Ashton. Here he farmed, taught school, and served for 17 years on the Sherman county Board of Supervisors. He also was township assessor and served on the township board.
In 1936, he moved to Ashton, where he lived until his death, which occurred at the age of 80 years, four months and 25 days.
He was the father of 11 children, Frank and Mrs. Alex Lewandowski of Ashton, Mrs. Tony Lewandowski of Loup City, Andrew of Grand Island, Pete, Tom, Stanley, and John, all of Omaha; and three children who preceded him in death, as did his wife, in 1938.
He is survived by the eight children; a brother, John, of Grand Island; a sister, Mrs. Frank Chilewski, of Omaha; 36 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
