Joseph Hankins Funeral Services to be on Monday
Funeral services for Joseph Oscar Hankins, 78, will be held at the Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Chapel at 3:00 p.m. Monday, April 28. Interment will be made in the Sturdivant Cemetery, southwest of Mineral Wells. Rev. Bobby L. Hadaway will officiate.

Hankins lived at 707 Southwest 22nd St. He died in the local hospital late Friday, April 26, at 4:05 p.m., after a short illness.

The deceased is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella Hankins, a daughter, Mrs. Josephine Thomas of Mineral Wells, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Myrtle Hyatt of Fort Worth; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Hankins was born on Sept. 1, 1890, in Erath County, and had spent most of his life in Mineral Wells. His parents were the late Joe and Josephine Smith Hankins. He and Miss Ella Davis Freeman were married in Palo Pinto in Jun2, 1951.

Most of his life he worked as a laborer, but he retired. He was a member of the Lawn Terrace Baptist Church.

Pallbearers for the funeral will be Johnny Thomas, Ernie Thomas, Anthony Thomas, Sunday Ames Thomas, Leo Logan, Jr., and Richard Steiner. - obituary
