Isaac was the son of Abigail Hamlin & Zephaniah Babbitt. He had 2 older brothers: Samuel and William. He married Mary Dunning on March 14, 1792 in Brookfield, CT and had 7 children: John, Elizabeth A. (Betsey), Asher, Dunning, Alvah, Mary A. and Frances A. Isaac married Eunice Dunning on Dec. 5, 1812, also in Brookfield, only one month after his first wife passed away.. Isaac and Eunice then had 6 children:Lovina, Marcus, John, Jeanette (Jennett), Jane, and Chloe. Isaac and family lived at the Southville and Obtuse section of town which are now under water (flooded by Lake Lillinonah which was created for hydroelectric power).
A Babbitt family bible gives records of this family. The bible was last in possession of Brainerd T. Peck. (see "Annals of Brookfield, Fairfield County, Connecticut" by Emily C. Hawley, 1929, 688 pages for more details).
