8 Year old Christina was shot in the head by 17 year old uncle.

Because of that tragic accident Chrissy's story was told to the entire city and beyond. She became one of the poster children for gun safety. Her picture and that paragraph was on countless billboards, newspapers, news segments, talk shows, handouts, and years later the internet. Her Grandma started a program about kids killing kids. Some kids may still be alive because of all the attention this recieved.

Also there are kids who recieved the gift of life that christmas because of organ donation. One little girl who was sick with CF needed a new set of lungs. She is still here today because she recieved the ones Chrissy no longer needed. There were other cases as well.

Chrissy did not leave this earth in vein. In more ways than one her death saved others.

The story of who she is after dying is about as far her story is told. Everyone knows how she died and how others were saved. She became a picture and a paragraph. And sadly something to gossip about.

I never met Chrissy but I think she would want the story of her life to be told. She was a little girl, not just a statistic. An 8 year old with dreams and hopes like any other child. She wanted to be a magician. Look closely at those pictures and you will notice she is wearing a magician's hat. Her Grandma was a magician. She was a part of the magic acts. She once was in a production of The Wizard of Oz.

For Christmas that year she wanted a New kids on the block tape, and some magic tricks. Other kids got what they desperately
wanted that year. She didn't get a chance to get what she wanted..... Instead she got wings.

She is remembered by many because her death helped others to live. She also has parents, two brothers, grandparents, an uncle, a new aunt and two new cousins all who love her. Her family and friends remember her for who she was in life.

Her new aunt dreamt that Chrissy was playing with her cousin. The other little girl woke up crying "Baby". Her mommy, the aunt, did a search of Chrissy to get a picture and came across this memorial. The family was pleased that a stranger found her story and made a memorial for her. But something was missing. The aunt got it transfered over to her so that she could complete it.

I think she is smiling down from heaven because of what happened after her death. But by also being remembered for who was in life makes her smile a little brighter.

Even among 470 schoolmates, Christina Baranski, 8, was a bright light, burning with affection and earnest purpose.

She greeted teachers with a hug and kiss, updating them on the garden at her home.

"She was proud of the peppers this year," said Donna Kolb, principal of Christina's school. "They must have gotten quite large."

A silence so loud, it echoes in my ears,
Visions not quite there I cannot see through my tears.
All the love I want to give, the hugs we cannot share,
My arms are so empty for they touch only air.
The laughing, the playing, the good times we had,
How I loved you and did not like you, when you were bad.

These are all but a memory, since you are not here,
All I have are pictures, that I hold so dear.
The ground is now settling, in the place where you lay,
One of your toys marks the spot, so I can find you each day.

How do I tell you Happy Birthday this year?
Or how much I love you and miss you my dear?
One thing you must know, even though we are apart,
You will always live on, in that place in my heart.
