Mr. Hoover died Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at his home.
He was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Kimeo, the son of Louis John Hoover and Mary Ann Burke. He graduated from Greenleaf High School. He received a business degree from Kansas State University and a master's degree in economics from Kansas University.
Mr. Hoover served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific, where he worked in intelligence. He owned Broughton Elevator in Broughton until it closed. He raised calves, peaches and Christmas trees in Lecompton. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 1372 in Lawrence.
Survivors include a sister, Margaret Marjorie Lowther, Concordia.
