Mrs. Mary Ethel Toombs, 97, a long time resident of Little Sioux and Missouri Valley, IA., died Thursday, Jan. 13, 1977 at Rose Vista Home, Woodbine, where she had resided for several years.

Her husband, Jerome Toombs, died Oct. 25, 1943.

She was born April 27, 1879 at Little Sioux, IA. Her parents were James A. and Elizabeth Peasley Stockwell.

She is survived by three granddaughters, Mrs. Donald Ivans of Independence, MO, Mrs. James Morrow of Mondamin, IA, and Mrs. Robert Deitering of Missouri Valley; and two grandsons, Larry Mead of Missouri Valley and James Jones of Lee's Summit, MO; a son-in-law, Lawrence E. Mead of Missouri Valley; and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lena Jones of Lee's Summit, MO.

Services were held in the Hennessey-Van Cleave and Hurley Chapel in Missouri Valley at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 15 with Elder John Lizer officiating. Organ music was played by Mrs. Henry Gravert.

Burial was in Little Sioux Cemetery. Casket bearers were Manlee Stueve, Milton Powell, John M. Jensen, Oscar Bellville, Don McCurley and Clyde Coberly.
