George was a race driver who competed in both midgets and sprint cars. He was the midget track champion at Olympic Stadium in Kansas City in 1941, 1945, 1946 and 1947. He was killed during a qualification run at the old Oklahoma State Fairgrounds when his car crashed through a retaining fence and struck a tree. It was speculated that George hit the tree rather than hitting a fence lined with spectators.
