Ola M. Nicholson, 89, of Independence, Mo. died October 5, 2006 at the Independence Regional Health Center. Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at Mound Grove Cemetery. Ola was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on February 25, 1917 the daughter of John William and Ola (Whitmore) Myers. She was a loving grandma, enjoyed fishing and reading murder mysteries and watching Perry Mason. Ola played instruments and was a member of a band in her younger years. Ola adopted dogs from the Humane Society throughout her life. She was a member of the Baptist church, the Jackson County Genealogy Society, and was a staunch Democrat who made her views known by writing or phoning her congressmen. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II. Ola was retired from the Federal Government where she had been a claims representative for the Social Security Administration, and had worked for the Veteran's Administration. She is survived by two sons, William Timothy "Bill" Nicholson of Independence, Gail M. Nicholson and his wife Juanita of Liberty, Missouri, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and four siblings, Elmer Myers, Audrey Meyer, Beverly Daily and J.W. "Bill" Myers Jr. all of St. Joseph, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Humane Society.
