Bertha Elizabeth Goad Bane, 89, of Parrott, Va., left this life on Monday, September 22, 2008, while a resident of Kroontje Health Care Center, Blacksburg, Va. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Harrison L. Bane Jr.; and a daughter, Esther Ruth Bane Weiss. Mrs. Bane is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Lois Stoots, of Parrott, Mary and Robert Chinault, of Belspring, Lola and Reginald Nofsinger, of Fairlawn, Shirley Simpson, of Roanoke, and one son, Gerald J. Bane, of Shawsville. She is survived by 13 grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, one sister, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bane was a long-time member of the Parrott Church of God. The family would like to thank Dr. J. Michael Payne, the nursing staff on the 4th Floor of Montgomery Regional Hospital, and also the nurses and staff of the Kroontje Health Care Center, Blacksburg, Va., for their many years of care and treatment of our mother. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Radford, Va. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2008, at the Parrott Church of God, Parrott, Va., with the Rev. Eddie Dalton and Lewis Bane officiating. Interment will be in Sifford Cemetery, Parrott, Va. Arrangements by DeVilbiss Funeral Home.
