Lillie Austin Dies, Aged 88; Funeral Today

SYCAMORE - Services for Lillie B. Austin, 88, former Sycamore and Rockford resident who died at 5:15 a.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth's hospital, Chicago, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Kebil-Coultrip funeral home. The Rev. Clarence Dierks will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.

Miss Austin was born Aug. 31, 1866, in De Kalb. She came to Sycamore as a child.

Miss Austin took teacher training at Professor Well's school in Oregon and taught for many years in Sycamore and Hinckley rural schools. Later, she was graduated from Valparaiso university and attended Northern Illinois State Teachers college.

For a number of years Miss Austin was superintendent of Rockford Girls home. While in Rockford she was a member of Court Street Methodist church. Woman's club, Mendelssohn club, Relief corps and W.C.T.U.

Survivors include two brothers, Charles, Chicago and William, Beloit, Wis. and a sister, Mrs. R. G. Dennis, Sycamore.
