Honaker Man Dies Instantly In Slate Fall Last Friday A slate fall in a mine of the Fields Coal Co. near Honaker, Va., crushed the life from 40-year-old Norman Creed Compton of Honaker at 7:30 a .m. Friday. Five men were required to lift slate from the miner who died instantly. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Lydia Compton Hess of Honaker; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Kennedy of Honaker and Mrs. Ethel Hess of Lebanon, Va.; and one sister, Miss Susie Hess of Honaker. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p. m. Sunday from the Honaker Church of God. The Reverends Roby Rasnake and T. R. Martin officiated Interment followed in Russell Memorial Cemetery at Lebanon, Va.
