The funeral of Mikkel A. Teslow who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Oliver Haugen at Osage, Iowa, Wednesday evening, July 19, was held in the Hayward Lutheran Church Saturday afternoon, July 22.
Rev. Olaf Malmen, Minneapolis, editor of the Lutheran Herald, friend and former pastor of the deceased, preached the funeral serman both in Osage and in Hayward. Rev. A. Nordaune had charge of the services in Hayward.
Mrs. E. Dahley of Osage, Iowa, sang two beautiful songs; "Asleep in Jesus" and "Good Night and Good Morning". She was accompanied by Mrs. A. Nordaune.
Mr. Teslow was born near Gran in Hadeland, Norway, Dec. 22, 1856, the son of Anders and Anna Teslow. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and has been a life long member of the Lutheran Church. As a young child, spring of 1862, he, together with his parents and two younger brothers came to America and settled on land in Hayward Township in the summer of 1866. Here he grew to manhood and continued to make it his home until 1919 when he retired and moved to Minneapolis.
On the second of Feb. 1883 he was married to Ida Amelia Ofstehage of Hayward. To this union seven children were born, three sons and four daughters. One daughter died in infancy. Surviving are: Alma, Mrs. Oliver Haugen, Osage, Iowa; Olaf and Raymond of Minneapolis, Beatrice, Mrs. H. F. Swansen, Blair, Nebr., Walter, Bozeman, Mont., Adelaide, Mrs. C. S. Fynboe, Parkland, Wash. All the children excepting Mrs. Fynboe were here for the funeral. Mrs. Teslow passed away on the 15th of January in this year and was brought to Hayward where she was laid to rest.
On Feb. 2, 1943, Mr. and Mrs. Teslow celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in their home in Minneapolis.
Mr. Teslow was the oldest of 11 children and is also survived by one brother, Richard, of Minneapolis, two sisters, Mary, Mrs. Carl Jensen of Albert Lea and Minnie, Mrs. Alolph Nesvik, Hawkeye, Iowa, also 12 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Others attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Tordorff, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hummel, Mrs. Ed Christianson, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Christianson, all of Osage; Mrs. Ed Nelson, Northwood; Mr. Curtis and Miss Marjorie Teslow of Minneapolis; Philip Jensen and Mrs. Arnold, Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Skaug, Mr. and Mrs. A. Hagen, B. H. Knatvold, all of Albert Lea.
All his life, Mr. Teslow was an active member in church, school and town civic affairs, having held various offices of trust in these institutions. Besides his relatives he leaves a host of friends to mourn his passing.
The pallbearers were old friends: Charles Nelson, Ole Ease, John Runden, Chris Skaar, Roy E. Deyey and Carl Lunde.

Funeral Services for Mikkel A. Teslow at Hayward Tomorrow

Mikkel A. (Mike) Teslow, 87, a long time resident of Freeborn county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Oliver Hougen, at Osage, Ia., last Wednesday.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 o'clock in Hayward, Saturday (tomorrow) afternoon.
Six children survive but none live in the county.
A sister, Mrs. Carl Jenson, lived on Fourth Street.
The deceased's wife died six months ago.
