**The Hendon children growing up with Stepfather Albert & "Sally" Reed's
two sons Al & Jim Reed caused confusion for some in the correct last name
of some of the Hendon Children: George Elmer Hendon 1779-1956 took the Reed name:
George Reed. He married Pallia "Pallie" Snow 1883-1955. George is buried at Mt View.
***Elvis Hendon 1918-1996 was orphaned at age twelve when his mother Rosa
died. Elvis Hendon, son of Nev & Rosa Clausel Hendon went to live with his
Uncle George Reed and his family of five Reed children. As the 1930's merged into
1940's Census takers, Registration, plus other official requirements caused the old
Hendon-Reed name, and explanation of how it came about, still confusing. Elvis
Hendon Reed was drafted into the U. S. Air Corps, Married, and died as Elvis Reed.
Elvis and wife Elida Gigge Reed, parents of three, are buried in York Cemetery, York, ME.
