PAUL ROBERT DINGLE, NATIVE OF PLEVNA, DIES SUNDAY AT HIS HOME IN QUINCY
Paul Robert Dingle, 62 of Quincy, who was born and reared in the Plevna vicinity, died Sunday, Mar. 19, 1972 at his home. Before retiring because of ill health, Mr. Dingle was a salesman for the Merle Worman Trailer Sales in Quincy. He was a son of the late Mr. & Mrs. Robert N. Dingle of Plevna.
Funeral services were yesterday morning at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home in Quincy. Graveside services were at the Mt. Salem Cemetery near Plevna.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Jerry Dean Dingle; a step-son, Ronald D. Griffith of Holland, Michigan; two step-daughters, Mrs. Roger (Jolene) Brenner of Quincy, and Mrs. James (Bettie) Oberly of Pompano Beach, Florida; four grandsons; five step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandchild.
Also surviving are six sisters, Mrs. Eva Lee Baltzer of Hannibal, Mrs. Florence Pence and Mrs. Ira (Fay) Marquette, both of Bethel, Mrs. J.E. (Eula) Beech of Perry, Oklahoma, Mrs. Everett (Norma) Elsea of Kirksville, and Mrs. Lavon Locke of Jefferson City.
Mr. Dingle was born June 3, 1909, a son and one of the nine children of Robert N. and Cordelia (Coombs) Dingle, who were residents of the Plevna vicinity more than 60 years and observed 73 years of married life a few months before Mrs. Dingle's death Sept. 5, 1968. Mr. Dingle died Nov. 25, 1971. Paul Dingle was first married to Ethel Staggs in Shelbyville who was fatally shot Mar. 8, 1940 while leaving the school there where she was teaching. On Mar. 16, 1948, he was married to Mrs. Daphne Shoemaker Griffith and they made their home in Quincy a number of years. He was a member of the Madison Park Christian Church, the V.F.W. and was a veteran of WWII, having served 37 months in the European Theater.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers who died in infancy.
