Phyllis J. Baker, age 82, of Eaton, Ohio, passed away suddenly Sunday, Sept. 21, 2008. She was born May 5, 1926, in Richmond, Ind., to the late Earl and Oneida Sheffer.

She was a member of the Sugar Valley United Methodist Church for over 60 years, currently serving as the church organist; she was a member of the Mabel Handley Circle for over 50 years; served with the Dayton South District United Methodist Women's Missions and Global Concerns for 10-plus years; and was co-leader of the Priscilla 4-H Sewing Club for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett Baker who passed away May 9, 2006; grandson, Brian Baker; and brothers, Willard, Joseph and Junior Sheffer.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Everett E. and Peggy Baker; son, Steven Baker; daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and George Mason; daughter and her friend, Janice Stewart and Ken Tarvin; granddaughter and her husband, Jennifer and Tim Drake; grandson, David Baker; grandson and his wife, Seth and Makenzie Mason; granddaughter and her husband, Leah and Adam Dutson; granddaughter and her husband, Ann "Nikki" and Evan Katz; granddaughter and her husband, Shanna and Dean Lutton; grandson, Steven Stewart; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Camden, Ohio.
