Gary Willard Ankney, age 54, passed away Saturday, June 29, 1998. Born May 10, 1944, in Coldwater, MI, the son of Harold and Maybelle Ankney. Mr. Ankney was a resident of the Lansing area most of his life. He was a Veteran of the Marines, serving as a Sergeant for five years. He was employed for 28 years at General Motors, and was owner of Ankney Cocker Spaniel Kennels. He was a past member of the American Legion. Mr. Ankney was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife, Sally, and competing in dog obedience trials with his beloved cocker spaniels. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Harold. He will be greatly missed by his best friend and loving wife of 17 years, Sally (Mervau); daughters, Brenda (Rudy) Barnhill and Alane Ankney; mother, Maybelle Ankney; brothers, Ronald (Diana), Donnie (Theresa), and Larry Ankney; grandchildren, Joshua and Jessica; in-laws, Robert and Maxine Mervau; and many nieces and nephews.

Gary's wife, Sally Jo (Mervau) Ankney, whose name appears with Gary on his tombstone, was still living as of Sept. 2015.
