Mr. James Howard Leonard, 81, of Calhoun died Friday afternoon, Sept. 28, 2007 at Gordon Hospital, following several weeks of illness. He was born on May 1, 1926 in Cherokee County, son of the late Benjamin Howard Leonard and Lucille Clayton Leonard. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mavis Fortenberry and Elizabeth Burchett, and three brothers, Jess Leonard, G.W. Leonard, and Bradford Leonard. Survivors include two sisters, Flora Mae Hale of Fairmount and Ruth Leonard of Calhoun; three brothers, Gene Leonard and Grady Leonard, both of Calhoun, and Junior Leonard of Rockmart; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral was Sunday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home, with the Revs. Freddie Morris and Fred Lee officiating. Pallbearers included Terry Erwin, Bo Leonard, Wiley Leonard, Avery Chadwick, Ricky Leonard, and Zach Grizzle. Burial followed the service in the family lot at Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Rydal.
