Civil War Union Army Officer. He served during the Civil War as Major of the 51st Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was discharged on a Surgeon's Certificate on December 17, 1864, for wounds received at the Battle of Weldon Railroad, Petersburg, Virginia on August 19, 1864.
