Forrest Brewer was an aspiring baseball player when he was drafted in 1941. He was sworn in on March 4, 1941 at Camp Blanding near Starke Florida.

He volunteered for parachutist duty and completed jump school at Ft Benning, GA. On October 16, 1942 he was assigned as a member of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment cadre as the unit began forming in Camp Blanding.

After the entire regiment completed jump school at Benning and advanced training in Camp Mackall, NC, Forrest left New York City Harbor on December 28, 19434 aboard the USAT James T. Parker bound for Belfast, Ireland.

Following three months of field exercise training in Ireland, the regiment relocated to Nottingham, England to await its role in the invasion of Europe.

On June 6, 1944 the regiment jumped into Normandy at about 0200 hours. Forrest Brewer was killed in action that same day.

Forresst Brewer was postumousdly awarded rhe Combat Infantry Man Badge (CIB) and the Purple Heart Medal.
